Hidden Pasts, Potential Futures

January 2024, Lord Mayors Pavilion, Fitzgerald’s Park, Cork City

A Partnership Group Exhibition Between Sample-Studios Cork, A4 Sounds Studios Dublin and Engage Art Studios Galway.

The exhibition reflects on the fluidity and cyclical nature of the Earth’s ecosystems through the lens of place, landscape, material and loss. Bringing together the work of Rebecca Bradley, Noelle Gallagher, Lucy Peters and Kathryn Kelly, Hidden Pasts, Potential Futures invites us to explore our relationship and indivisible connection with the land as an important tool in imagining a hopeful future.

Rebecca Bradley’s work explores encounters with place through painting and found material. Noelle Gallagher’s film Forest/ry documents the destruction of a commercial forest to make way for a native woodland. Lucy Peter’s sculpture Buy Wear Dispose # 2 explores over-consumption and memory. Kathryn Kelly’s text piece everybody leaves or are left in the end evokes ideas of loss, transience and interconnection. This iteration of the work sees the text occupying the windows of The Lord Mayor’s Pavilion.
