The Ground Beneath Our Feet

The publication The Ground Beneath Our Feet is composed of material created during the reading group of the same name, led by Sarah Long and Kim Crowley at The Living Commons, Cork City in 2023. The reading group was set up as a way to share and explore research topics that would inform the exhibition The Licks Within The Lips. During the reading group sessions, which ran monthly between March-September, we engaged in a number of visual and written activities that formed the material for the publication which I designed and edited.

We focused on Claire Louise Bennet’s novel Pond (2015) and the themes of gossip, female multiplicity and the role of language in shaping landscapes. Other writings by Mary Condren, Belinda Loftus and Eavan Boland also influenced the activities and discussions.
